Travel journal, 1949.

Authorship undocumented; early entries provide some objective evidence to identify author as Lewy. Journal documents a lecture tour and visits to neurophysiology laboratories in South America with the special purpose of investigating Pio del Rio-Hortega's ammoniacal silver carbonate methods of tissue staining and their potential use in categorizing brain tumors. Journal covers the reasons for the trip; what he hopes to investigate; conversations with colleagues and individuals he befriended en route concerning diseases of mutual interest; observations on the political economy, customs and mores of both the medical milieu and South American society in general; descriptions of the environment and culture. The journal ends abruptly during a trip to Machu Pichu.
