Lyman Beecher, including list of subscribers, persons owed, and instrument of conditions; and marriage certificates (1820-1823 and 1824-1825) consisting of records of the marriages performed by Beecher, including records of Litchfield Female Academy students who married Litchfield Law School students.

The First Congregational Church of Litchfield was founded in 1721. Its first minister was Timothy Collins who served until 1751. Noted clergyman Lyman Beecher was the church's minister from 1810 to 1826. The first church building was constructed in 1723 or 1724 and was replaced by a new structure in 1761. American preacher and revivalist; also famous as reformer, educator, and central figure in theological controversies; b. in New Haven, Conn.; in 1799 ordained as pastor of the Presbyterian Church in East Hampton, N.Y.; in 1810 accepted the pulpit of the First Congregational Church of Litchfield, Conn., where he attracted large crowds.
