The French House (La Maison Française) at Louisiana State University was built in the style of a Renaissance-style Normandy château. It opened in September 1935 to house selected advanced French-language students to live immersed in French language and culture. It served that purpose until 1959 when it became a dormitory for graduate students, then undergraduates, before its closure in 1968.
