Legal documents, drawings, invitations, marriage certificates, photographs, speeches, tax returns, and other materials relating to the Babbitt family, including Eleanor Babbitt (1898-1994) and Col. Samuel H. Fisher (1867-1957). Col. Fisher's daughter Margaret Crossette Fisher married Eleanor Babbitt's brother Theodore Babbitt in Litchfield, Conn., June 17, 1922. Eleanor Babbitt papers include speech read at the unveiling of the boulder in memory of Sarah Pierce, early Litchfield teacher, Sept. 8, 1934; World War II rationing materials; and American Red Cross documents (1940-1945). Col. Samuel H. Fisher papers include birth certificate of Margaret Sargent; certificates and other materials relating to the marriage of Samuel Fisher and Margaret Sargent Fisher; documents relating to E. Morris Jack, et al. vs. Francis L. Torrant (1948-1950: Margaret Sargent Fisher was plaintiff in a suit to prevent a funeral home from operating on North Street); individual tax returns from New York State; and certificates. Other papers include materials relating to the wedding and 50th anniversary of Margaret Fisher and Theodore Babbitt; and drawings and photographs of Litchfield houses.

Col. Samuel H. Fisher was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1867, graduating from Yale University in 1889 and Yale Law School, 1892. He practiced law in Washington, D.C., and New Haven, Conn. In 1916 he became the personal counsel for Mrs. Stephen V. Harkness and her son Edward S. Harkness, a position he held until Fisher retired in 1931.
