Autographed letter signed to Curt and Mary Schiffler, February 25, 1949 thanking them for his birthday cake and mentioning the cold weather and gardening. There is a postscript from his wife, Catherine, mentions the cake, a visit to their grandsons, and a portrait done of Nimitz in the CNO's residence.
