Memoir, 1943-1946.

Memoir entitled "Vivid Memories of World War II: Chronicles of a German Prisoner of War." Burns comments on his training and time as a flight instructor before being stationed in England in 1944, where he flew bombing missions over Germany. He was shot down and taken to a German Prison Camp for officers. He discusses the treatment by the guards, food, sanitation, and health problems. He was liberated by an Army tank corps, recaptured and then marched through Bavaria before being liberated again. He was discharged in January 1946.
