Notes in Les tenures de Monsier Littleton, 1572 [manuscript], ca. 1575-1625.

Numerous notes in multiple hands in and bound with STC 15742. Consists of 8 leaves before and 58 leaves after text block, in addition to copious manuscript annotations. Leaves at the end consist of a detailed table of contents and a report of certain cases which came before the Court of Star Chamber in Michaelmas 1597, most of which are mentioned in Les reportes del Cases in Camera Stellata (ed. W.P. Baildon, 1894). Note on the next to last leaf says "Applegarthe of the Chauncery dwellethe in Hameshyre in A parsonage betwene cheriton and tysted where Sir Richard Norton dwellethe."

Prynne published a pamphlet, Histriomastix (1632) in which he denounced female actors, at the same time Queen Henrietta Maria was participating in a court masque. This was considered an attack on the crown and he was found guilty of sedition, sentenced to have his ears cut off, fined £5000, and sentenced to life imprisonment.
