Section I, General Affairs, covers the second half of the 16th century through the first half of the 17th century, important for the study of the theological dispute between the Remonstrants and the Counter-Remonstrants leading to the Synod of Dordrecht in 1618-1619, and for the study of the translation of the Bible commissioned by the States General in that Synod and published in 1637. Sections II-X contain minutes and delierations of the Provincial Synods of the provinces of Zuid, Holland, Noord Holland, Gelderland, Overijssel,Zeeland (only early 19th century), Utrecht, Friesland and Groningen. Sections XI-XII provide valuable correspondence and other material on the relations of the Reformed Church with churches in the Dutch East Indies, Ceylon, Pennsylvania, France, Germany, the Baltic countries and elsewhere. Sections XIII-XV contain material concerning problems as various as church finances, relations with the Catholics and other religious groups, public morals, and the training and education of ministers.
