Consists of papers of Paul Dresser, 1858-1906, song writer. Included are letters to Mary Ellis South, 1880-1968, to whom he dedicated "On the Banks of the Wabash;" newspaper clippings relating to Paul Dresser and to Miss South; a photograph of Paul Dresser; a photograph of his birthplace in Terre Haute, Indiana; and a ms. copy of Louise Dresser's [Reminiscences of Paul Dresser and account of how she happened to take the stage name, "Dresser"].

WorldCat record id: 702670236 Paul Dresser, a native of Terre Haute, Ind., was the older brother of novelist Theodore Dreiser. In 1873 he changed his surname. Dresser held a number of jobs, including working for minstrel shows, but found some success as a songwriter.
