Babylon is fallen, [circa 1595].

Manuscript, on paper, in italic script, produced in England around 1595. The text is a prose commentary on the Fourth Book of Esdras, Chapter 11, dedicated to the second Earl of Essex, Robert Devereux. The commentary interprets the apocalyptic vision in the eleventh chapter of 4 Esdras in the light of contemporary politics and England's eventual triumph over France and Spain.

Frederick of Mömpelgard (d. 1608) became the Duke of Württemberg in 1593. Robert, Earl of Essex (1586-1601) was a favorite of Elizabeth I, Queen of England, and occupied a variety of military posts.
