Manuscript notebook in a single hand. All versos and some rectos are divided into two columns and filled with very brief diary entries recording household work, pastimes, meals, illnesses, visitors, weather and local events, and trips to neighboring towns and farms. The volume also contains household accounts, including bills for dressmaking and losses in card games; medical recipes, including cures for chilblains, fluxes, toothaches, and burns; cookery recipes, including almond custard, rice pudding, and trussed partridges; and miscellaneous news reports and historical items, such as a description of a miraculous well in Norfolk and comments on the jewels used during the coronation of George III. The volume also contains eight laid-in notes, most contemporary; one is a copy of "The Lover's Farewell" in a much later hand.
