Joseph Parker letters and manuscripts relating to Isaac Watts, circa 1700-1750.

Eight manuscript items, most concerning the deaths of Isaac Watts and his patroness, Lady Mary Abney. Five are condolence letters addressed to Joseph Parker, Lady Abney's steward, who also served as Watts's amenuensis for many years. Their authors are Caleb Ashworth, John Auther, and Daniel Goodrich. The group also includes copies of notes by Isaac Watts on illness; an autograph statement of faith by Sir Thomas Abney; and a letter of religious counsel addressed to a Mrs. Ashurst, also a member of the Abney household.
