Henry Leighton Morrill, soldier and railroad executive. Born in Guilford, Maine, on April 4, 1836 to Benjamin Fanklin Morrill and Sarah A. Leighton Morrill. Raised in Iowa, Morrill worked as a schoolteacher and a merchant before enlisting in 1861 in the First Iowa Cavalry in which he would serve throughout the Civil War.
