Manuscript, in a single hand, of Grovesnor's journal for the year 1826, in which he records routine social activities such as dinners, visits with friends, and outings to the opera, as well as his northern tour as a companion to Duke William Spencer Cavendish on his mission to Russia for the coronation of Emperor Nicholas I of Russia. During the sea journey, he describes such routine events as seasickness, a celebration of the Duke's birthday, and fishing for mackerel. The journal also includes a detailed description of a ball given by the Duke in Moscow, attended by "the representatives of all the crowned Heads of Europe, with the American Republican Minister, and the envoys from George, Persia, and other countries of the East."
