Manuscript, in multiple hands, of 10 items tipped in which pertain to Calder's work for Chambers' Cyclopedia. The volume also contains autograph copies of 2 letters from Calder to Longman, one of which declares, "I cannot help harbouring suspicions & jealousy of every proposal to me that originates with Mr. Strahan," an ALS from the printer Archibald Hamilton (1736-1793) to Calder which expresses his regrets for having been "so exceedingly exhausted by the Fatigue...that I am actually incapable of waiting on you tomorrow morning, to examine the work with the accuracy it demands," several letters which criticize Calder's article on the letter "A," and an autograph draft of Calder's reply to his critics.
