Manuscript, in a single hand, of an account of Humphry's stay in India. The author records the first time he rides an elephant; his first impressions of Lucknow, and his daily social life, including dinners, introductions to local British and Indian governors, and an elephant fight. Elsewhere, he describes his discomfort with the local practice of staining one's gums, teeth, and palms of hands. He also mentions his sittings with Indians whose portraits he is painting, including "Shaw Zada" and Asaf-ud-Daula, the nawab of Oudh.
