Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of essays on political and literary subjects, several sonnets, and the beginning of an unfinished tale titled The mutineer, concerning a young midshipman traveling on a voyage of discovery. The bulk of the manuscript, however, contains notes on British nobility, including genealogical charts; lists of peerages of the female line; thoughts on how peers should be selected; the 1784 promotion list; and a review of the Spectator's Anatomy of the Peerage, copied from the Times. The volume also contains a number of essays concerning the petition of right.
