Nature: a poem in six books, [1806 or later].

Manuscript, lightly corrected and annotated, of a philosophical poem on the natural world. Topics include gravity, the sun, day and night, seasons of the year, the planets the Earth's moon and the "fixed stars," and life cycles of plants and animals, and a history of scientists including a eulogy to Isaac Newton. Also contains a prose preface which describes the difficulties of this endeavor due to conflicts between rationality and poetic imagination: "...there seems to be something in the very nature of philosophy which is hostile to poetry."
