The lives of those eminent antiquaries Elias Ashmole Esq. and Mr. William Lilly : A new edition corrected with a new preface, a new & copious index and illustrated by new portraits & [illegible], 1815.

Manuscript mounted in a small album, in a single hand with numerous corrections, of a preface to a projected new edition of this 1774 pamphlet. The preface defends the historical utility of such personal documents as memoirs and diaries anddeclares that Lilly's works contribute much to an understanding of the reign of King Charles I, as well as being diverting to read. The preface is followed by draft title pages, heavily corrected, for other works. The final title page is annotated: In Wm. Hone's autograph.
