Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of about 150 entries, primarily consisting of poems but also including several prose pieces, anagrams, and humorous receipts. Though the entries address a wide variety of subjects, the collection shows a particular interest in Napoleon Bonaparte and Lord Byron. Poems by Byron include Lara; Ode to Napoleon Bonaparte; On the Death of Sir Peter Parker; and Hebrew Melodies. Other items include Thomas Heywood's Shepherd's Song; Barbarina Lady Dacre's Imitation of Burns, To Thomas Graham of Balgowan, now Lord Lynedock; and "The Form of Prayer, and Thanksgiving for the late Victory obtained at Waterloo, by the Duke of Wellington, against Buonaparte, on Sunday, June 18th, 1815." The volume also contains several unattributed poems, such as On Miss Stephens and Black Eyes and Blue Eyes; while a short verse on the word "adieu" is noted as having come from the "Morn. Post Augt. 12. 1818." The collection is preceded by an excerpt of a history of France, written in French in another hand.
