[Poems], [ca. 1808 and later].

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of several dozen primarily religious poems, as well as several religious prose pieces. Many of the entries are by Curtis, written when he was a teenager. The poem Verses written for the front of a Bible, for example, is signed "Mr T Curtis aged 13 years 1999." Other poems by Curtis include Morning hymn written by the author (Mr T. C.) with his pencil; and The Lord's supper. A prose piece by Curtis titled The reflections of a guilty conscience is annotated, "written by the Author when greatly distressed in his mind, and deserted by his friends, on account of an egregious mistake in his conduct," written when Curtis was 8 years old. Many of the remaining poems are by William Cowper, including Sabbath morning for children and Complete devotion, as well as numerous hymns. The volume also includes notes on a sermon preached by Mr. Reynoldson, and an Elegy to the memory of Mrs Eliz Dawer, Lincolnshire.
