Cupid and death: a private entertainment : represented with scenes, variety of dancing and musick both vocall & instrumentall, [late 18th century].

Manuscript copy, in unknown hand, from the 1659 print version of a comic musical play in which Cupid and Death, staying at the same inn on the same night, have their respective arrows exchanged by a chamberlain, with confusion resulting. Songs include: "Change, oh change your fatall blows,/ since neither knows/ the vertue of each others darts;/ Alas what will become of hearts." The chamberlain, shot by Death in revenge, falls in love with his pet circus apes.
