[Poems], [ca. 1796-1800].

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of about 50 primarily lighthearted poems copied on separate leaves of paper and apparently copied from contemporary newspapers and magazines. The collection contains numerous prologues, epilogues, and farewells spoken and written by contemporary actors and actresses, many by David Garrick. Other items include lighthearted verses on marriage and social classes, with titles such as The batchelors choice; A tale not of a tub but of a tailor; and The physicians, a satire. Other entries consist of humorous epigrams, epitaphs, and inscriptions. The collection also contains several printed verses. A number of the items are signed "Thomas Boole" and dated 1796-1798; several of these signatures are accompanied by crude drawings. Many of the entries are pasted on fragments from a printed work on pneumatics, or written on printed announcements of consolidated annuities or handwritten arithmetic charts.

ca. 50 items ; various sizes.
