Manuscript on paper, in two hands, of 10 entries, consisting of extracts from various writers on ancient and recent English history. Unattributed contents include biographies of each English ruler from William the Conqueror to Elizabeth I; Rapsodyes Taken From Other Authors of the Same Kgs & Pr. Lives; and Collections out of the History of the Q. of Scotts. Attributed extracts include Collections out of the Hystorian Mr. Samuel Daniel; Collections out of the History of the Three First Norman Kings by Sir John Hayward; and Collections out of Albions England by William Warner.

The poet and dramatist, Samuel Daniel, was born near Taunton in 1562, the son of a music master. He was educated at Magdalen Hall, Oxford, and by 1585 was working for Lord Stafford, the English Ambassador to France. He was later employed as a tutor to William Herbert (afterwards Earl of Pembroke) and then as tutor to Lady Anne Clifford at Skipton Castle.
