[Commonplace book], [mid 17th century].

Manuscript on paper, in a single hand, consisting primarily of a history of military battles and political intrigues in Hungary during the 16th century, beginning with the death of Louis II of Hungary and concluding with the crowning of Emperor Rudolf II. The history of Hungary is preceded by a one-page biography of the life of Thomas Becket, "the Papists Saint"; two Latin epigrams translated into English; and brief biographies of various saints, popes, kings, and emperors, including Pope Joan, Emperor Henry IV, and King Charles IX of France.
