A collection of volumes of prose and poetry by Mary Cram gathered after her death by her husband, General Thomas Jefferson Cram, of the Corps of Topographical Engineers, U.S. Army. General Cram added narrative notes to many pieces before having them bound. The majority of the manuscripts are in the hand of Mary Cram, though some have been copied by Mrs. Cram's sister, Emily L. Boggs. Several items are printed clippings from newspapers. The subject matter and forms range from essays on domestic matters to religious poems to gothic-inspired novellas. Volumes bear bookplates and stamps from the Mercantile Library, Philadelphia.
