Letter from Gardner Quincy Colton to Benson J. Lossing, in response to the latter's request for information for his proposed history of New York. Colton discusses his first use of (nitrous oxide) anesthesia with Horace Wells on 11 December 1844 and his subsequent role as provider of nitrous oxide anesthesia for dentists in New York. An added page describes his upbringing.
