Petition to the President of the United States by the residents of the western division of the proposed Territory of Arizona, ca. 1863.

Manuscript petition, in an unidentified hand, to the President of the United States, requesting that he appoint residents of the territory to provisional government offices. The petitioners also ask that L. W. Hastings, a respected Arizona lawyer, be appointed as one of the Territory's supreme court justices. Seventy-nine signatures follow the petition, including those of John C. Frémont, Nathan B. Appel, Peter R. Brady, J. T. Riddle, and A. G. Grayson.
