Letter : Philadelphia, Pa., to Mary Ann Angell Young, Nauvoo, Ill., 1843 Aug 17-Sep 2.

ALS written by Brigham Young to his wife, Mary Ann Angell Young, while on mission in the eastern United States. The first part of the letter was written in Philadelphia, 1843 Aug 17; subsequent sections were written on Aug 29 and Sep 2 in New York. Young describes his travels in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, and he reports on meetings with Mormons and his efforts in raising settlers and money for the building of Nauvoo. He also briefly discusses his health and family concerns, and he reports news of his travelling companions and plans to continue travel to New London, Connecticut, and Boston, Massachusetts.
