Contemporary manuscript. Each case represents one of the temporary victories forced through the courts by the Royal Party. The first case is the great case of monopolies, the test case of the East India Company against Captain Thomas Sandys (see Howell's State Trials, v. 10, pp. 312-554); the second case is the Quo Warranto proceeding, in which the charter of the city of London was taken away (see Howell, v. 8, pp. 1039); the third case is that of Godden vs. Hales (see Howell, v. 11, pp. 1165-1315). This manuscript may have been made under the direction of Sir Henry Pollexfen. A fuller description of the manuscript is laid in.
