Papers relating to The life and works of Thomas Parnell, ca. 1656-1941.

Research materials relating to "The Life and Works of Thomas Parnell," a doctoral dissertation by Paul Siebert Schoedinger, Yale University, 1940. Materials include a manuscript commonplace book kept by the family of Thomas Parnell, ca. 1656-ca. 1697, containing thirteen poems, eleven in holograph, written by Parnell at about age fifteen. The commonplace book also includes ca. ten pages containing signatures of Parnell's brother, John, and his father, Thomas; an entry in the handwriting of his mother, Anna; and a "Prayer made by Mr. William King" in an unknown hand. Other materials include Schoedinger's notes, his correspondence with repositories holding Parnell manuscripts, 1925-1941, and two versions of his dissertation, 1929 and 1940.
