Charles A. Austin business letterbooks, 1900-1912.

Four consecutive letterpress copybooks containing more than 2000 of Austin's letters relating mostly to his financial dealings in western land from 1900-1912. He transacted most of his business through banks and real estate agents in the respective states, though a number of this dealings were directly with interested individuals. Principal correspondents are: F. G. Barrows, B. F. Brown, G. K. Gilbert, William E. Harrington, H. H. Talcott, Cyrus Walts, H. G. McGee, the American Exchange Bank (New York City), Bank of Glencoe (Minnesota), Bell Investment Company (Minneapolis), Citizens National Bank (Wahpeton, N.D.), First National Bank (Albert Lea, Minn.).

William Morris Davis (1850-1934) was an American geographer, geologist, geomorphologist, and meteorologist, often called the "father of American geography." Grove Karl Gilbert, also known as G.K. Gilbert, was an American geologist. In 1871 he joined George M. Wheeler's geographical survey as its first geologist.
