Sagamore and California Mining and Trading Company papers, 1849-1850.

The collection consists of five items. The diary of Benjamin Franklin Kendrick, corresponding secretary for the company, is a brief and sporadic chronicle of the company's journey across the plains. It ends in 1850 with notes on his employment in California and a few financial accounts. Two 1849 newspaper clippings from a Lynn and a Philadelphia newspaper describe the company and an agreement dated June 25, 1849, records the dissolution of the company. The last item is a commerical writing exercise, "Gaskell's Comlete Compendium of Elegant Writing."
