The proceedings record in detail the conferences with the chief men of the Ogalalla and BruleĢ bands of Sioux, and the treaty signed by them; and the later conferences held with the Cheyennes and Arapaphoes. The treaty secured the safety of the road up the Powder River Valley to Bozeman, Montana.
