The letter instructed Capt. Hennes of "F" Company, Grand Mound Mounted Rangers, to examine the country for Indians in the direction of Mount Rainier and to keep headquarters informed of his movements. A postscript tells of the attack on Lt. Slaughter's camp on the Puyallup.
