John Ginn, printer of Acworth, Georgia, left Independence, Missouri in 1857 with Magraw's Pacific Wagon Road Expedition. At Fort Laramie, he worked for the Commissary Department of the 10th United States Infantry, resigned, and moved on to Fort Bridger where the Mormon militia was in command.
