Wooden gavel has a long, turned handle. There is a metal plate attached that reads: "USED BY / UNITED STATES SENATOR WARREN G. HARDING / TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT CHAIRMAN REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION / CHICAGO JUNE SEVENTEENTH TO TWENTIETH INCLUSIVE / NINETEEN SEXTEEN [sic]."
