Uncrowned Queens Digital Oral History Project, 2004.

Includes the oral histories of five African American women who rose to positions of leadership. These civic leaders with a Western New York connection were Georgia Burnette, Gwendolyn Greene, Thelma Hardiman, Eva Noles, and Garnet Hicks Wallace. Their interviews were conducted by Peggy Brooks-Bertram and Barbara Seals Nevergold of the Uncrowned Queens Institute for Research and Education on Women, Inc. Each oral history interview includes: a DVD for access, a DVD with the raw .avi files, a paper and electronic version of the transcript, a Consent Form and Memo of Understanding, letter of invitation, and a biography print-out from the Uncrowned Queens Institute for Research and Education on Women, Inc. website.

Eva M. Noles is a nurse, an educator, a volunteer, an author, and a community leader. She was the first African American in Buffalo to graduate from the three year nursing program at E.J. Meyers Memorial Hospital Training School of Nurses in 1941. In 1965 and 1967 respectively, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University at Buffalo.
