Women's Progress Club of Washington prayer books, 1961-1991.

This collection consists of two prayer books of the "Women's Progress Club of Washington, D.C." The club was founded in 1937 and Sylvia Fisher (1910-1981), was president from 1956-57. The club was dedicated to raising funds for cancer research. She created prayer books to which people made donations as a way of honoring the births, marriages, anniversaries, and deaths of loved ones. The club raised money for equipment at the George Washington Hospital and supported it for many years. The materials range in date from 1961-1991.
