Several letters relating to the erection of a monument on Winchester Battlefield to commemorate the role of the Eighth Vermont Infantry Regiment at the Third Battle of Winchester. One of the letters, dated December 14, 1888, includes short notes from Governor John L. Barstow and General Stephen Thomas. Also included is a drawing of the monument and several bills.
