The Oregon Physical Therapy Association evolved from a training course for physiotherapists established at Portland's Reed College in 1918. The course prepared 200 women as "Reconstruction Aides" to assist in rehabilitating soldiers wounded in World War I. In 1921-1922, Oregon alumni from this course formed the Portland Unit of the national American Women's Therapeutic Association. Among the founding members were Ruth Babb, Cora Howes, and Minnie V.
