Born Yves Francois Lubin in Haiti in 1957, Assotto Saint was a New York-based gay activist, poet and performance artist who edited two anthologies of black gay poets in the early 1990s. He founded a publishing house, Galiens Press, which published his book of poems "Stations" and the anthologies "Here to Dare" and "The Road Before Us."
