Excerpt from a typed transcription of Warren Foote's three volume diary prepared by his granddaughter, Lillian Petersen. Foote writes about Jacob Myers; the movement of the Mormons across Iowa in an exodus from Nauvoo; life at the way station in Kanesville, Iowa; matters pertaining to the Kanesville mill; family events; illnesses, including the illness and death of his mother; etc.

Warren Foote was born in Dryden, N.Y. and died in Glendale, Kane County, Utah. He began the westward trek from Nauvoo to Utah following the death of his mother in 1846 as a part of a company of nine wagons captained by Jacob Myers. The company settled between 1846 and 1850 in Kanesville, Iowa (now Council Bluffs) where Myers built a mill. On June 11, 1850 the group left Kanesville to continue the journey to Utah.
