Gordon Bottomley was an English author, known primarily for his verse plays. Born in Yorkshire, he took a job as a bank clerk, but had to give it up due to a tubercular condition, which contributed to his comparatively quiet life. He was an accomplished poet, and devoted himself to reviving the art of verse drama, writing some thirty plays, almost all of them in verse. He remains a gifted and visionary Georgian author.
