Instruction on the courtesies and formalities to be observed including at audiences, at the table, and at the reception of foreign royalties. Also includes modes of address for civil, military, naval, ecclesiastical and other dignitaries. Followed by a list of the six Princes du Sang (of France) and then the titles of the other officers of the Household and the methods of addressing them.

English antiquary and collector. He began collecting while at Rugby School and Oxford. On inheriting his father's estate at Middle Hill in Worcestershire, Phillipps embarked on a career of collecting manuscripts and books. His collection of manuscripts eventually numbered over 60,000 items. Dernier fils légitimé de Madame de Montespan, il est élevé au château de Clagny. Amiral de France à 5 ans, Louis-Alexandre obtient l'office de gouverneur de Guyenne, puis de Bretagne, avant de se lancer dans la guerre de succession d'Espagne. En 1723, il épouse, d'abord secrètement, Marie-Victoire de Noailles, qui lui donna un fils, Louis-Jean-Marie de Bourbon (1725-1793).
