Sydney Smith Marshall papers, 1915, 1918-1919.

Contains a copy book of letters written from January to March 1915 while trading in North China. The letters combine feeling and daily activities with discussion of business dealings, and begin on board the Shinyou Maru in Honolulu. Some of the descriptions are of China and the Chinese. The collection also contains a confirmation cable, two passports for Sydney Smith Marshall, one passport for Amanda Marshall (wife) and their son, and a program for a concert in Tsing-Tho.
