Barbara Gay Myerhoff was born on February 16, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio. She received a B.A. degree in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1958, a M.A. in Human Development at the University of Chicago in 1963, and returned to the University of California, Los Angeles to receive her Ph. Marc Kaminsky was born in New York City in 1943. He attended Columbia University, earning his B.A. in 1964 and his M.A. in 1967. He earned an M.S.W. from the Hunter College School of Social Work in 1978.
