Notebook containing miscellaneous accounts and records kept by Charles P. Crawford between 1853 and 1869. Included are lists of slaves that Crawford and his younger brother Joel Terrell Crawford (1833-1862) bought from his father's estate in 1858. Also included is a "Memorandum for Lee County" containing lists of goods and property, including slaves, which Crawford intended to bring with him when the family moved there from Americus in 1859. Also included are minutes (1853, Oct. 15 - Nov. 20) and roster of the Marshall Association, a society of Southern lawyers with members from Georgia, Virginia, the Carolinas, Louisiana, Missouri, Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. Charles P. Crawford served as the Association's secretary.

Charles P. Crawford (1826-1900), a Georgia lawyer and plantation owner, son of Joel Crawford (1783-1858). In 1855, he married Martha Williamson (1836-1876). From 1855 to 1859, the Crawfords lived in Americus, Sumter County, Ga. In 1859, the family moved to Flat Pond, Lee County where Crawford had purchased a plantation. In 1861, Crawford enlisted in the 11th Regiment of Georgia Volunteer Infantry; in 1862 he was promoted to the rank of Captain of Co. B. After the war, the Crawfords lived in Mill...
