Statue [realia] : Simon Bolivar. 1921

Bronze statue is a replica of a large statue commemorating General Simon Bolivar of Venezuela. It depicts Bolivar riding a horse. President Warren G. Harding unveiled the original statue in New York City's Central Park in 1921. The statue now stands at the head of the Avenue of the Americas. An inscription on the base reads: "estatua ericada a El Liberatador en Central Park, Nueva York el 19 de abril de 1921," Spanish for "Statue erected to the Liberator in Central Park, New York on the 19th of April 1921." Sally James Farnham was the sculptor and Roman Bronze Works of New York cast the statue.
