The collection consists of Henry King Stanford's papers from his time as interim President of the University of Georgia. The first series of papers, the Athletic Association and Board papers concern the UGA president's role as Chair of the UGA Athletic Association. The second series contains materials relative to the selection and inauguration of Stanford's successor and the search for a new Dean for the University's School of Law. The third series is comprised of Stanford's correspondence with his Vice Presidents from 1986-1988. The fourth series, the University Foundation papers, represents the function of the UGA president's duties. Finally, the fifth series details interactions between the University of Georgia and the University System of Georgia.
